The aims of Halls of Residence are:
The Hall of Residence, which is both home and workshop, lives, thinks, feels, organises itself, celebrates and shares university life. It has its values and meanings, which are expressed in gestures, symbols and ways of life. They are values that are common to all Halls of Residence: the furtherance of education, study, co-existence, personal develop-ment and the creation of a suitable and comfortable environment in which to live, study and interact with others. A Hall of Residence should ensure the prevalence of an atmosphere of freedom with acceptance of a statutory framework designed to achieve its aims through healthy co-existence. The presence of rules should not be seen as an obstacle but rather as a means of furthering that personal freedom.
